This stomp-heavy hillbilly punk rap group distills boots, banjos, and 909s into LPs of autobiographical moonshine. Their lyrics are celebration through self-deprecation. Raunchy and irreverent, their stories are time-capsules of personal and cultural history. This GenX band dares answer the retort, “Whatever, so what?”
Rugsplitter came heavy on the heels of New Folk in the 2010s. While New Folk arrived polished, earnest, and well dressed, DDWG’s Rugsplitter is described as the movements third cousin who showed up late, smelling of lake water, telling the unedited version of the same stories.
